Cookies and local storage

LymyVoyage stores three kinds of thing in your browser. Only one of them -- analytics -- needs your permission, and nothing in that category is set unless you accept it.

Your choice

Change it whenever you like -- withdrawing takes one click, exactly as giving it did.

Analytics cookies:

Settings you chose

Your theme (light or dark), whether the home page shows a list or a grid, and your answer to the cookie question itself. These sit in your browser's local storage, are read only by the page you are on, and are never sent anywhere. They exist because you asked for them, so they do not need consent.

Analytics -- only with your consent

Google Analytics, via Firebase, sets _ga cookies that count visits and show which articles are read. They last up to two years, and the data goes to Google. Nothing is loaded or set until you accept, and if you reject or change your mind the cookies are deleted. Page-level traffic counts also come from Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and collects no personal data.

Spam and abuse protection

Pages carrying the comment form or the email sign-up load Google reCAPTCHA and Firebase App Check, which store a token to tell a reader from a bot. They load only on those pages, only for that check, and are not used for advertising or tracking.
